There is accommodation of every description for every pocketbook in and around the Sosua area. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: 1) The scene at Sosua. This town is filled with bars, restaurants, gifts shops, sunworshippers and scam artists. Sosua is an active town, bustling and noisy, with an accent on young visitors. 2) Cable Car in Puerto Plata ( 30 minutes by taxi) rises to 2500 feet overlooking the city. There is a statue of Christ on the top, similar to the famous landmark in Rio de Janeiro. ACCESS TO BEACH: There is a parking lot at the eastern end of the beach. Easy access for pedestrians. QUALITY OF BEACH: The beach is filled with hustlers renting anything from chairs to wave-runners. The beach is packed with people which likely explains why the sand is fairly packed down as well. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Across from the beach are more than a hundred souvenir shops and watering holes. Adding to the confusion is a sales army trying to entice the visitor to buy sunglasses, jewellery, hand-carved knick-knacks and T-shirts.
